Daviess Community Hospital Foundation Gifts Benefit CORE Center Patients
Washington, IN – The Daviess Community Hospital Foundation Board
of Directors recently approved a request for funding to benefit physical
therapy patients at the CORE Center.
Angie Kribs, Physical Therapist at the DCH CORE Center, gave a presentation
to the Foundation board outlining the need for and benefits of have an
ultrasound unit specifically to use for the Pelvic Floor program. She
explained that the ultrasound imaging allows a therapist to assess the
abdominal muscles, the deep low back muscles, and the pelvic floor. Ultrasound
imaging is helpful for assessing muscle imbalance in these muscle groups,
but also as an educational tool when instructing patients how to properly
contract and strengthen specific muscle groups. This is beneficial for
a wide variety of patient conditions, and I use it especially for women’s
health, since the pelvic floor muscles are hard for a patient to visualize.
With the use of ultrasound imaging, a patient is able to see the muscles
on the screen and practice contracting/isolating them properly.
“The donation of an ultrasound unit from the DCH Foundation will
equip our therapists with the necessary tools to provide this valuable
assessment for our patients,” said Kribs.
