A Cancer Patient Navigator acts as a personal guide educator, liaison and
advocate for the newly diagnosed cancer patient and their family. The
navigator works with patients and families to help them at many points
along the health care continuum. This may include education on the specific
disease, insurance questions, finding physicians, explaining the treatment
and care options available, and much more. There are many resources outside
the hospital that can act as useful additions to your cancer treatment,
and your navigator can guide you to them.
DCH has received the Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust grant to provide assistance to breast cancer patients who need financial assistance for gas, utilities and other necessities. For more information please call 812-254-2856.
