One of the primary reasons heart disease is a leading killer in the United States is because people are unaware they have it until they experience a cardiac event. Even if you have already suffered from a heart attack or similar event, much of the damage that has been done to your system can still be repaired. Cardiac rehabilitation educates patients on exercises and dietary changes that can help to remove artery plaque and reduce the likelihood of suffering another cardiac event.
We admit patients for cardiac rehabilitation if they have been experiencing the following:
Medicare and most healthcare providers cover cardiac rehabilitations. Contact your insurance carrier representative if you have questions regarding your coverage.
At Daviess Community Hospital, your cardiac rehabilitation sessions are customized based on your diagnosis and recovery needs. The program consists of three phases:
Cardiac Rehabilitation shadows your activity level at home while monitoring your heart. A variety of equipment including treadmills, Airdyne bikes, arm ergometer, NuStep exerciser, and free weights are used to continually assess and promote increasing your heart and skeletal muscle strength and endurance. Education sessions are incorporated into the exercise sessions covering topics such as cholesterol, diet, exercise, signs and symptoms of heart attack, and other heart health information.
Please discuss cardiac rehabilitation with your physician.
