At Daviess Community Hospital (DCH), we believe in standing beside our patients every step of the way—especially those facing cancer. That’s why we’re inviting our staff, patients, and community members to join us for our annual Oncology Cookout Fundraiser on Wednesday, August 13, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the hospital cafeteria.

This year’s cookout will benefit the DCH Oncology Patient Assistance Fund, which provides critical financial support to local patients receiving cancer treatment. From helping with gas money and lodging to covering medication and nutrition costs, this fund ensures patients can focus on healing—not financial hardship.

A Meal That Makes a Difference

The cookout menu will include:

• Hotdogs

• Hamburgers

• Baked beans

• Coleslaw

• Potato salad

• Desserts donated by the DCH Auxiliary

There is no set fee to eat—the event is donation-based, allowing everyone to give what they can. We’ll accept cash, check, or payroll deduction for DCH employees. (Please note: card payments will not be accepted.)

Whether you're grabbing lunch with coworkers or stopping by with your family, this is a great opportunity to enjoy good food while giving back to those in our community who need it most.

• The DCH Police Department is providing the grill.

“We say it often, but it’s true—this community shows up for one another,” said Sharon Mead, RN, OCN, ONN-CG, DCH Cancer Patient Navigator. “Every dollar raised during this event stays local and helps ensure our patients can access the care they deserve. It’s a small gesture with a huge impact.”

Everyone Is Welcome

The regular cafeteria lunch will still be served during this time, so guests will have a variety of options and won’t miss out on their preferred meal. Whether you work at DCH or live in the area, your support matters.

So mark your calendars, bring your appetite, and help us make a difference in the lives of those fighting cancer in our community.
