A Passion for Mental Health Rooted in Personal Experience

Jessee’s decision to enter the mental health field was deeply personal. After witnessing the struggles her sister faced due to untreated mental illness, Jessee committed herself to a path of compassionate care and clinical excellence.

“I know firsthand how important access to mental health care is,” Jessee said. “That’s why I’m passionate about meeting people where they are and helping them find relief.”

Her approach is guided by empathy, congruence, and unconditional positive regard—core values that help create a safe, supportive space where clients can open up, feel heard, and work toward healing.

Education and Certifications That Enhance Her Practice

Jessee earned a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Capella University, graduating with distinction and earning a certificate in contemporary theory in mental health services. Her academic background also includes:

  • A bachelor’s degree in psychology with minors in criminology and sociology from Indiana State University

  • An associate degree in behavioral science and psychology from Vincennes University

She is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)—a proven therapy for trauma recovery—and is currently pursuing certification as a Forensic Mental Health Evaluator through the National Board of Forensic Evaluators.

“EMDR gives me another way to help clients heal, especially those with inner child trauma or complex post-traumatic stress,” Jessee explained. “And with forensic training, I’ll be better equipped to advocate for clients involved in the legal system.”

What Jessee Brings to DCH Behavioral Health

Jessee’s clinical style is relaxed, nonjudgmental, and deeply patient-centered. She’s passionate about working with individuals who are dealing with:

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Substance use disorders

  • Grief and loss

  • Psychosis and emotional regulation challenges

“I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach,” she said. “Each person’s background, story, and symptoms are unique. My job is to meet them where they are and help them move forward.”

Jessee’s past experience includes work in psychiatric inpatient settings, group homes, and outpatient mental health case management. She’s known for her positive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and drive to continuously improve her practice.

Why Jessee Chose Daviess Community Hospital

Jessee said she was drawn to Daviess Community Hospital because of its commitment to patient-centered care.

“When I learned that DCH offers a therapeutic ‘wish list’ so clinicians can request items to better serve their clients, I knew I’d found a place that truly supports healing,” she said.

DCH Behavioral Health has rapidly expanded its services in recent years, offering outpatient counseling, psychiatric evaluations, medication management, addiction recovery services, and telehealth appointments to patients of all ages throughout southwestern Indiana.

“No referral is needed, and we accept all insurance,” said Jenna Bedwell, chief nursing officer at DCH. “Jessee’s addition strengthens our ability to provide timely, compassionate care to individuals and families in our community.”
