LILLY ONCOLOGY ON CANVAS AT DCH

ART EXHIBIT TO RUN THROUGH APRIL 29TH

(Washington, IN) – Lilly Oncology on Canvas, an international art exhibit honoring the journeys traveled by millions of people affected by cancer worldwide, is on display at Daviess Community Hospital through April 29th. A dozen works of art adorn the hospital’s main lobby for visitors to enjoy.

“Our patient navigator, Sharon Mead, contacted Lilly Oncology to ask if they would bring the exhibit to DCH as part of our open house for The Lohano Center for Advanced Medicine,” stated Angie Steiner, Director of Business Development at DCH. “They were kind enough to let us display the artwork for a few weeks.”

For several years, Lilly Oncology on Canvas (LOOC) has provided individuals affected by cancer an opportunity to connect through art and narrative. Since its founding in 2004, and in partnership with the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship and the Cancer Support Community, more than 4400 pieces of artwork have been received, hundreds of exhibitions have been held, and thousands have been inspired to share their journeys with countless others. Original artwork that depicts one's cancer journey was submitted in one of six media: watercolor, oil, pastel, photography, acrylic or mixed media. The artwork is accompanied by a narrative.

While thousands of stories have been shared in the last several years, there are many still waiting to be told. In the U.S., there are nearly 14 million cancer survivors today in addition to millions of others who love and care for them. Creating, viewing and talking about the disease can help patients and their loved ones cope with this serious illness. As this program continues to evolve, Lilly Oncology hopes to provide cancer community members an opportunity to connect through the changes, experiences, and emotions that give their cancer journeys meaning.
