Dr. Tanya de la Vergne, warmly known as “Dr. D” to her patients, is a board-certified pediatrician at Grand Avenue Pediatrics, part of Daviess Community Hospital in Washington, Indiana. With more than two decades of pediatric experience, Dr. de la Vergne is dedicated to providing exceptional, compassionate care for children and families throughout the region.

A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Dr. de la Vergne earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Newcomb College of Tulane University and her Master of Social Work from Tulane University School of Social Work. She completed her Doctor of Medicine at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. Dr. de la Vergne then completed her residency in pediatrics at Louisiana State University Medical Center, Department of Pediatrics, serving as both resident and Chief Resident of Pediatrics.

Dr. de la Vergne is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Her career includes experience as an Associate Residency Director and faculty member at LSU, leadership roles in group and solo pediatric practices, and work in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She is experienced in caring for children with chronic and complex conditions, and has a strong commitment to supporting high-risk and underserved pediatric populations.

As both a physician and a mother, Dr. de la Vergne brings a personal, family-centered approach to every visit. She enjoys watching children grow and develop into young adults and strives to optimize their health and well-being at every stage. Dr. de la Vergne is married to Dr. John L. Stafford, OB/GYN, and they have four children and one grandchild. She is honored to care for families in the community and help guide each child toward a healthy future.
