Women's Health Therapy

Expert rehabilitation therapy for women

At Daviess Community Hospital’s CORE Center, our women’s health physical therapists provide compassionate, evidence-based care to help you move comfortably, regain confidence, and return to the activities you love. From pelvic floor concerns and pregnancy/postpartum changes to surgical/oncology recovery and bone health, we partner with you at every stage of life. Care is available in Washington and Odon, Indiana, and we welcome patients from Daviess County and across Southern Indiana.

Who we help

You may benefit from women’s health therapy if you experience:

  • Bladder symptoms: leakage with cough/sneeze/laugh/lift/run, urgency/frequency/overactive bladder
  • Pelvic pain: aching/sharp pain with sitting, cycling, or daily activity; painful intercourse (dyspareunia)
  • Pregnancy-related pain: sacroiliac (SI) or pubic symphysis pain; low back/hip/tailbone pain
  • Postpartum concerns: core weakness, urinary leakage, heaviness/pressure, diastasis recti, return-to-activity needs
  • Surgical or oncology recovery: sensitivity, tightness, or mobility limits after breast/chest surgery, C-section, or other abdominal/pelvic procedures
  • Pelvic organ prolapse symptoms (heaviness, pressure, or “bulge”)
  • Lymphedema (swelling) or soft-tissue tightness limiting comfort or motion
  • Bone health/osteoporosis: safe movement, posture, and strength strategies

Pelvic and postpartum symptoms are common—and highly responsive to specialized physical therapy.

What to expect

Evaluation

We review history, symptoms, and goals, then screen posture, spine/hips, core mechanics, and—when appropriate—pelvic floor function. We explain all options and obtain informed consent for any pelvic floor assessment; you can decline any portion and still receive effective care.

Personalized plan

Together, we set clear goals and a visit schedule. Your plan may include pelvic floor coordination, bladder/bowel strategies (urge suppression and healthy 2–4 hour voiding intervals), scar/soft-tissue techniques, core/hip strengthening, breath/pressure coaching, and a home program that fits your day.

Progress you can feel

We track outcomes—leak episodes, urgency, pain levels, mobility, activity tolerance, and confidence—and adjust the plan as you improve. We coordinate with your medical team when needed.

FAQs

Will I need an internal pelvic floor exam?
Not necessarily. We review options and obtain informed consent. You can pause or decline any portion of care and still receive effective therapy.

Is it too late to start therapy years after childbirth or surgery?
No. Many patients improve—even years later—with targeted strategies and support.

How often should I go to the bathroom?
Many adults void every 2–4 hours when hydrated. If you’re going “just in case” or very frequently, therapy can help rebuild healthy intervals.

Do I need a referral?
Many insurers require a physician referral. Call (812) 254-8889 and we’ll help you determine next steps.
