Balance & Fall Prevention

Stay steady. Stay safe. Move with confidence.

Falls are one of the leading causes of injury among older adults—but they don’t have to be part of aging. At Daviess Community Hospital’s CORE Center in Washington and Odon, Indiana, we offer personalized fall prevention and balance therapy to help you reduce your risk, improve your strength, and feel safer on your feet.

Who Can Benefit from Balance and Fall Prevention Therapy?

Balance issues and fall risk can affect people of all ages, but they are especially common in:

  • Adults aged 65 and older
  • People with a history of falls or near-falls
  • Individuals recovering from stroke, surgery, or injury
  • Patients with balance or vestibular disorders
  • Those with dizziness, lightheadedness, or difficulty walking

If you feel unsteady when walking, have trouble standing from a seated position, or worry about falling, the CORE Center’s therapy team can help.

What to Expect from Your Treatment Plan

At both CORE Center locations, our licensed physical and occupational therapists perform a comprehensive balance assessment and build a customized plan to address the root causes of instability.

Your treatment may include:

  • Balance training and stability exercises
  • Gait training and walking safety
  • Leg strength and flexibility exercises
  • Vestibular rehabilitation (if inner ear function is involved)
  • Home safety education and fall risk modifications

Our therapists also offer fall prevention screenings that assess your home environment, mobility, footwear, and assistive device needs.

Why Early Intervention Matters

Every fall has the potential to change your life. Many falls result in hip fractures, head injuries, or a loss of independence. Early therapy can help prevent future falls, reduce hospital visits, and give you back your confidence.

With a combination of therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular retraining, and gait correction, CORE helps patients across Daviess County and surrounding communities stay mobile and active—safely.
