Daviess Community Hospital wraps inaugural Hoops for Healthcare event, looks ahead to future growth

Daviess Community Hospital recently hosted its inaugural Hoops for Healthcare event, raising close to $10,000 to support local healthcare initiatives while bringing together community partners, sponsors and supporters.

Hoops for Healthcare featured a variety of basketball-themed games and activities, with Canon Shake winning the adult Pop-A-Shot division and Drew Clawson taking first place in the youth division. Former Indiana University basketball player Anthony Leal also attended the event, connecting with attendees and adding to the excitement of the day. Attendees also enjoyed offerings from local food vendors, including DW’s Smokehouse, Rockin’ & Rollin’ Dogs, The Ice Box and Big Al’s Place.

The event was made possible through the generous support of community sponsors. Jump Ball Sponsors included Williams Bros Health Care Pharmacy and Ed Lee Mortuary. Care Strategies served as the Slam Dunk Sponsor. Clutch Sponsors included WAMW, Old National Bank and RTC Communications, while Home Building Savings Bank was recognized as the Big Dance Sponsor.

A wide range of businesses, organizations and individuals contributed items to the event’s silent auction, including The Stitching Post, Cherry Ghost Coffee House, Scoops Ice Cream, Amber Jo’s Head to Toe, Walmart, S & S Pools, Bill and Betty Bobe’s Pizza Express, El Mazatlán, Gallos Mexican Bakery, CORE Center, the DCH Administrative Team, the DCH Auxiliary, McCracken Curve Distillery, Jake’s Lawncare, Terre Haute Casino, RTC Communications, Williams Bros Health Care Pharmacy, Metanoia, The Wax Room LLC, Travis Burkhart Foundation, Purdue University, BarkBox, Blondie’s Boarding Barn, the Jerger family, The Chamber, Top Notch Boutique, Shake Broadcasting LLC, Great Clips, the Indianapolis Indians and Jimbo’s Pizza and Wings.

The event was organized by a dedicated planning committee that included Lisa Walker with TrueScripts Management Services; Bryan Baumert with RTC Communications; Shelly Shake with Shake Broadcasting; Jordan Sherman with Nasco Ind./National Safety Apparel; DCH CEO Justin D. Harris, MSHA, MBA, FACHE; Derek Johnson with Williams Bros Health Care Pharmacy; and DCH Foundation Director Angie Steiner.

“We are grateful for the sponsors and community members who supported this event and participated in the online auction,” said Steiner. “As we look ahead, our committee will evaluate this year’s event and identify opportunities to grow participation and make Hoops for Healthcare even stronger in the future.”

Funds raised through Hoops for Healthcare support Daviess Community Hospital’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care close to home. As a trusted healthcare provider in southwestern Indiana, DCH continues to invest in programs, services and community partnerships that strengthen access to care and improve health outcomes across the region.

Daviess Community Hospital plans to build on the foundation of this inaugural event, with a focus on expanding community engagement and increasing participation in future years.
