A Taste of the Islands: DCH Cafeteria Hosts Tropical Paradise Day Lunch

On Wednesday, September 17, the DCH Cafeteria at Daviess Community Hospital transformed into a vibrant island getaway during its Tropical Paradise Day lunch event. With bright décor, tropical flavors, and cheerful energy, the event offered staff, patients, and visitors a relaxing break and a flavorful midweek pick-me-up.

Themed lunches like this are hosted monthly by DCH’s Food & Nutrition Services team as part of a growing initiative to create engaging, memorable dining experiences that bring joy to the hospital environment.

Island-Inspired Menu Served with a Smile

Guests enjoyed a festive menu designed to transport them straight to the tropics, featuring:

• Grilled chicken sandwich topped with a pineapple ring and provolone cheese

• Crispy onion rings

• Refreshing virgin strawberry daiquiris

• Ice-cold virgin piña coladas

The Food & Nutrition Services staff, known for their attention to both flavor and experience, went the extra mile with tropical music, themed displays, and creative drink presentations—all part of the hospital’s ongoing efforts to blend nourishment with positivity and connection.

“Our goal is to create something joyful and inviting for everyone—whether you’re here as a patient, a team member, or a visitor,” said Rebecca Vest, CDM, CFPP, Food Service Director at DCH. “Themed lunches give people something fun to look forward to, and we love being part of that experience.”
