Why Longer Heart Monitoring Delivers Stronger Diagnoses

When it comes to diagnosing intermittent heart rhythm issues, time matters.

That’s the focus of the upcoming Indiana Rural Health Association Lunch & Learn on October 31, 2025, featuring Dr. Ethan T. Oates, MD, FACC, and Troy Graber, RRT, MBA, from Daviess Community Hospital.

“Too often, short-term monitors miss important cardiac events,” says Graber. “By extending monitoring duration, we capture data that truly informs treatment.”

Dr. Oates adds,

“Accurate diagnosis begins with comprehensive monitoring. When we have complete data, we can better tailor care and help patients live healthier, more confident lives.”

The free, virtual session will walk providers through practical differences between 24–48-hour Holter monitors and 3-day (or longer) monitoring systems. Attendees will leave with actionable guidance on how to choose the right test, improve diagnostic yield, and enhance patient comfort—all while reducing repeat studies and unnecessary costs.
