Connie Wilson, MSN, RN, CCRP, CCEP, Named Q3 2025 DAISY Award Winner at Daviess Community Hospital

At Daviess Community Hospital (DCH) in Washington, Indiana, nursing care is more than a profession—it’s a calling. This quarter, DCH is proud to honor Connie Wilson, MSN, RN, CCRP, CCEP, with the Q3 2025 DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, recognizing her outstanding service in Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Connie’s dedication to patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and emotional support has made her a cornerstone of the hospital’s Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Program. Her nomination came from patient Linda Stites, who shared a deeply moving account of her journey to recovery after a massive heart attack.

A Patient's Perspective: “She truly cared.”

“From my first meeting with Connie, I felt her confidence and positivity,” wrote Stites.
“She answered all of my questions—and I had a lot of them. She calmed me when I was worried about my tests, my oxygen levels, or my blood pressure. She truly cared.”

Stites noted that even in a room full of patients, Connie consistently delivered individualized attention. Whether addressing concerns about blood sugar or helping adjust equipment, Connie’s presence helped transform uncertainty into confidence.

“Connie is an encourager,” Stites continued. “She’s always looking for ways to help others achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. I will forever be grateful to her for being there when I needed it the most.”

A Nurse Who Leads with Knowledge, Heart, and Hope

Connie Wilson has been a registered nurse since 1985 and has specialized in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation for more than 30 years. She joined DCH in 2016, where she now oversees monitored exercise programs, patient assessments, and lifestyle education within the Cardiopulmonary Department.

Connie is not only AACVPR Certified in Cardiac Rehabilitation and an ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist, but she also holds advanced degrees in nursing, health education, and pastoral counseling. Her passion for whole-person wellness is clear in everything she does—from guiding patients through risk factor management to leading them in achieving lasting lifestyle changes.

“I am honored to receive the DAISY Award,” said Wilson.
“I love my job and interacting with the patients and staff at DCH. I hope to have many more years to care for the patients that attend the cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program.”

Why the DAISY Award Matters

The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses is a national recognition program that honors the compassion, clinical excellence, and dedication of nurses in hospitals across the globe. At Daviess Community Hospital, DAISY honorees are selected based on the DAISY Foundation’s PETALS criteria:

  • Passion for nursing

  • Empathy in patient care

  • Trust and teamwork

  • Admirable attributes

  • Love for the profession

  • Selflessness in service

As part of the recognition, Connie received a DAISY Award pin, certificate, and a hand-carved “A Healer’s Touch” sculpture. A celebratory cinnamon roll reception followed the award ceremony—a nod to the favorite treat of J. Patrick Barnes, whose family founded the DAISY Award in his memory.

“Connie brings an incredible depth of knowledge to her work, but what truly sets her apart is her heart,” said Jenna Bedwell, MSN, RN, NE-BC, Chief Nursing Officer at DCH.
“She sees every patient as a whole person and takes time to understand their concerns, goals, and motivations. Connie’s ability to educate, encourage, and support her patients makes her a truly exceptional nurse—and this recognition is well deserved.”
