DCH names Christy Mehringer as new CFO

Daviess Community Hospital (DCH) announced today that Christy Mehringer has joined the health system as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Mehringer brings more than 20 years of financial leadership experience in healthcare organizations across Indiana, including Columbus Regional Health, Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, and Indiana University Health.

Mehringer’s first day at DCH will be Tuesday, December 16.

“We are excited to welcome Christy to our leadership team during a period of meaningful growth and transformation at Daviess Community Hospital,” said Justin D. Harris, MSHA, MBA, FACHE, CEO of DCH. “Her experience leading financial operations, revenue cycle performance, and large-scale Epic implementations will be instrumental as we continue expanding services, strengthening access to care, and preparing for our upcoming transition to the Epic electronic health record in 2026. Christy’s leadership aligns with our vision for a strong, community-focused, and future-ready health system.”

Mehringer said she was drawn to DCH’s mission, its connection to the communities it serves, and the organization’s momentum in advancing care across the region.

“I’m drawn to the hospital’s small-town connection and truly inspired by the growth strategy DCH leadership is pursuing,” Mehringer said. “I have spent years building a toolbox for this exact role, and I’m excited to support this organization as it moves forward with strategic growth initiatives.”

Throughout her career, Mehringer has served in a variety of financial, operational, and revenue cycle leadership roles, most recently as Director of System Financial Operations, Reporting, and Planning at Columbus Regional Health. Her background includes directing revenue cycle operations, financial forecasting, Epic implementation and optimization, capital planning, audit oversight, strategic decision support, and practice management finance. She has led teams responsible for hospital and professional billing, financial close processes, analytics, and multi-site integration.

At Memorial Hospital, Mehringer oversaw all revenue cycle activities and partnered closely with IT and clinical teams during a full Epic implementation. She previously served as Director of Financial Applications/IT, where she was responsible for the Epic implementation across hospital billing, professional billing, patient access, coding, and related third-party systems. In that role, she helped develop and manage a $39 million Epic capital budget and delivered a successful go-live in just 10 months.

Mehringer said that experience reinforces the importance of change management, collaboration, and preparation as DCH undertakes its own Epic transition.

“Change management is the key to a successful Epic implementation,” Mehringer said. “It requires understanding current processes, preparing teams for workflow changes, and involving IT, clinical, and operational leaders early and often. For DCH, Epic presents a tremendous opportunity to automate manual tasks, strengthen financial operations, and allow staff more time for analysis and problem-solving.”

As CFO, Mehringer will support the hospital’s strategic direction, including the ongoing management agreement with Deaconess, growth in urology and OB-GYN services, expanded interventional radiology capabilities and GI and general surgery services, and operational improvements across the health system.

“I consider the finance team to be an essential support system for clinical and operational teams,” Mehringer said. “Our role is to provide structure, clarity, and partnership so everyone can work together toward shared goals. We are in this together, and it will take all of us working together to achieve success.”

Mehringer grew up in a small town in Illinois and lives in Jasper with her husband, Brent, and their two sons, Calvin (11) and Miles (8). Outside of work, she can often be found supporting her sons’ many sports activities, cooking, or enjoying a good Netflix series.

“I have seen many of the challenges DCH is working through, and I’m excited to bring a fresh perspective and help build process efficiencies and cohesive teams,” she said. “This community deserves strong, sustainable healthcare close to home, and I’m proud to be part of that mission.”
