Concierge-Level Care Without the Concierge Cost: A Patient’s Story at Daviess Community Hospital

When patients take the time to share a detailed, thoughtful account of their healthcare experience, it offers a powerful window into what quality care truly looks like.
For Michael Short, that experience came through his relationship with Alison Krzesniak, FNP-C, at Daviess Community Hospital’s Health Pavilion—but the culture behind it reflects something much larger: the way care is delivered across DCH.
From Concierge Medicine to Community Care
Before moving to Washington, Indiana, Michael lived in Louisville, where he received concierge-level primary care. That experience came with a $2,500 annual price tag and perks like extended visits, rapid access, and personalized attention.
“I honestly didn’t think I would ever experience that level of personalized care again—especially without paying a premium,” Michael shared.
After relocating, Michael expected his healthcare experience to change. Instead, he found something unexpected.
Not only did he save thousands of dollars each year, but he discovered the same level of attentiveness, professionalism, and personalization—this time through DCH.
Feeling Heard, Not Rushed
Michael describes Alison’s approach as thoughtful, unhurried, and deeply patient-focused.
“I’ve never felt rushed, which is uncommon in today’s healthcare environment,” he said. “She allows me to ask every question, discuss concerns about my own health, and even talk through next steps for my children, who are also under her care.”
For Michael, the time spent during visits mattered just as much as the medical expertise. Each appointment felt like a conversation, not a checklist.
Follow-Up That Builds Trust
What truly stood out to Michael was Alison’s follow-through.
“When she says she’s going to do some digging and get back to me—she does,” he said. “I always hear back within hours of leaving the office.”
That level of responsiveness reinforced something many patients value deeply: trust.
It’s a reflection of DCH’s broader commitment to communication, accountability, and relationship-based care across all departments and services.
A Forward-Thinking Approach to Health
Michael also noted that Alison looks beyond immediate concerns and focuses on long-term wellness.
“Rather than treating only what’s wrong today, she proactively identifies opportunities to prevent future issues and improve overall health outcomes,” he said.
He described this approach as rare in traditional fee-for-service care and aligned with the principles of value-based care—prioritizing prevention, education, and whole-person health.
“Every visit feels like an investment in my future health, not just a quick fix for the present.”

A Reflection of DCH’s Culture of Care

At DCH, care is built on listening, compassion, and consistency—whether patients are seen in primary care, specialty clinics, imaging, therapy services, or inpatient care.
“If I could give more than five stars, I would,” Michael said. “That’s how strongly I feel about the level of care I receive.”
