Daviess Community Hospital is proud to announce the donation of eight bassinets to Project C.U.R.E., a renowned organization dedicated to providing medical resources to underserved communities worldwide. The bassinets are currently en route to Suriname, Africa, where they will be utilized in remote clinics throughout the country.
The donated bassinets will significantly impact the health and well-being of mothers and newborns in Suriname. Many clinics in the region are situated in the interior, accessible only by boat, making travel for expecting mothers challenging and time-consuming. The presence of these bassinets in remote clinics will ensure safer and more comfortable conditions for childbirth, reducing the need for arduous journeys to larger cities.
“DCH is committed to supporting global health initiatives and providing essential medical equipment to those in need,” said Shawna O'Kelley-Brinson, BSN, RN, Director of Obstetrics, Nursery and Childbirth Education, at Daviess Community Hospital. “We believe that our donation will make a meaningful difference in the lives of mothers and babies in Suriname.”
Founded in 1987, Project C.U.R.E. has grown from a small operation in a Colorado garage to the world’s largest distributor of donated medical supplies, equipment, and services. The organization serves doctors and nurses in over 135 countries, addressing the critical shortage of medical resources in underserved areas.
The hospital has replaced the donated bassinets with ten state-of-the-art bassinets from Stryker. Stryker, a global leader in medical technology, is dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes through innovative products and services in various medical fields, including MedSurg, Neurotechnology, Orthopaedics, and Spine.
