Sonya Williams, MD

Dr. Sonya Williams is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist providing patient-centered, full-spectrum women’s healthcare at Daviess Community Hospital in Washington, Indiana. She brings decades of experience serving diverse communities and is known for her compassionate approach, surgical expertise, and dedication to women’s wellness across the lifespan.

Dr. Williams offers care in adolescent gynecology, perimenopausal and menopausal health, and complex gynecologic conditions. She performs in-office procedures such as colposcopy and endometrial biopsies, and is trained in advanced laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgeries including hysterectomy, ovarian cystectomy, salpingectomy, and more. Her scope also includes geriatric gynecology, contraceptive management (IUDs, Nexplanon), and preventive screenings.

Dr. Williams completed her OB-GYN residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, with prior training at Hahnemann University Hospital and rotations at international and high-acuity sites. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from Drexel University College of Medicine and holds licensure in both Indiana and Illinois.

At DCH, Dr. Williams continues her mission to improve access to high-quality care, with a special focus on health equity, culturally responsive care, and the needs of underserved populations. She has served as Chief of Obstetrics at Greene County General Hospital, and currently holds academic and advisory leadership roles through Indiana University and the Greene County Health Department.

Known for her dedication to health advocacy, she has also conducted research on preeclampsia, domestic violence, and community-based women’s health issues.

When she’s not caring for patients, Dr. Williams enjoys watercolor painting, pottery, theater, violin, travel, skiing, crafting, vintage shopping, decorating, and caring for animals.
