About Maggie

Maggie L. Burks, MA, CF-SLP, is a clinical fellow in speech-language pathology at Daviess Community Hospital’s CORE Center in Washington, Indiana. She provides diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients with communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Maggie earned her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, and her Bachelor of Science in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Her academic experience included specialized study in medical humanities, gerontology, and the treatment of speech and language impairments across the lifespan.

During her clinical externships at Daviess Community Hospital CORE Center and North Daviess Community Schools, Maggie provided individualized treatment for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. She also gained experience at the Ball State University Speech Pathology Clinic, where she delivered therapy for patients with apraxia of speech, aphasia, and stuttering, and implemented augmentative and alternative communication systems.

Maggie is trained in advanced clinical tools and methods, including the Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSImP), SPEAK OUT! Parkinson Voice Project, and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) for cognitive screening.

She is passionate about helping patients improve communication, regain confidence, and enhance their quality of life through evidence-based, patient-centered care.
