About Kristin
Kristin Spellmeyer-Werne, MD, is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist who provides tubal ligation procedures at Daviess Community Hospital in Washington, Indiana in partnership with Jasper Obstetrics and Gynecology. A Jasper native, Dr. Spellmeyer-Werne is deeply rooted in the Southwestern Indiana community she now serves.
Dr. Spellmeyer-Werne earned her bachelor’s degree magna cum laude in Spanish from DePauw University in 2002 and her Doctor of Medicine from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 2006. During medical school, she received the Red Shoes Award for Family-Centered Care from Riley Hospital for Children and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society, reflecting her compassionate approach to medicine.
She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Vincent Women’s Hospital in Indianapolis in 2010, where she also earned the Resident Teaching Award. Since then, she has served patients across all stages of life with a focus on continuity of care, patient advocacy, and surgical excellence. She is fluent in Spanish and has participated in medical mission work in Bolivia, Mexico, and Peru.
Dr. Spellmeyer-Werne lives in Jasper with her husband, Dr. Nick Werne, a hospitalist at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, and their four daughters: Ava Claire, Tessa, Elise, and Coraline. She enjoys traveling, cooking, watching football, and spending time with her family.
