About Christopher

Christopher D. Nelson, DO, is a board-certified pulmonary and critical care medicine specialist providing advanced lung and respiratory care at the DCH Specialty Clinic in Washington, Indiana. He diagnoses and treats a wide range of conditions, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), interstitial lung disease, lung nodules, lung cancer, and other pleural and pulmonary disorders.

As part of the lung cancer care team, Dr. Nelson works closely with patients from diagnosis through treatment, ensuring they receive thorough, compassionate, and timely care. His approach begins with listening to understand each patient’s unique health concerns and family history, then developing a personalized care plan.

Dr. Nelson served in the United States Air Force before relocating to Newburgh, Indiana, with his family. He is also an instructor for the Indiana University Internal Medicine Residency Program in Evansville, helping train the next generation of physicians.

He earned his medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine & Biosciences, completed his residency at Keesler Medical Center in Biloxi, Mississippi, and his fellowship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Nelson is board certified in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
