Coronavirus "COVID-19"

Coronavirus/COVID-19 Information:

If you are sick and experiencing any COVID symptoms, please stay home.

For patients who are experiencing symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath, Daviess Community Hospital advises to first call the COVID hotline at 812-254-2764 before seeking non-emergency medical attention.

If you have COVID-19 symptoms and a negative test, you must follow these guidelines to be released from isolation:

  • At least one day (24 hours) has passed since fever. This means at least 24 hours of fever free without medication AND
  • Improvement in symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath
  • You may return to work or school if you are fully vaccinated.
  • If you are unvaccinated and a close contact to a confirmed positive case, you must remain in quarantine for the entire 10 days if you are not fully vaccinated.

You may leave isolation and return to work or school if you have met these conditions.

If you have a confirmed positive COVID-19 test and symptoms, you must follow these guidelines to be released from isolation:

  • At least one day (24 hours) has passed since fever without the use of fever reducing medications AND
  • Improvement of symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath AND
  • At least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared.
  • Anyone who is unvaccinated and has been with you for longer than 15 minutes and less than six feet should isolate for 10 days from the last time you were last together.

You may leave isolation and return to work or school if you have met these conditions.

If you have a confirmed COVID-19 test and you do NOT have any symptoms, you may return to work or school after the following conditions:

  • 10 days have passed since the date of you had your positive test collected and remain with no symptoms.
  • Anyone who is unvaccinated has been with you for longer than 15 minutes and less than six feet should isolate for 10 days from the time you were last together.

You may return to work or school after 10 days have passed and no symptoms.

If you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, you do not need to quarantine if you are exposed to COVID. If you have any questions, please call the Health Department at 812-254-8666.


As we continue to navigate COVID-19, it’s important that we continue to follow the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations:

  • Practice social distancing: stay home if possible
  • Wash hands with soap & water for 20 seconds often; if hand washing is unavailable, use hand sanitizer (at least 60% alcohol)
  • Cover your coughs & sneezes with a tissue; then throw in trash
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
  • Sanitize frequently touched surfaces and objects frequently
  • Avoid handshakes and ‘high-fives” to prevent the transmission of COVID-19
  • Stay home if you are sick, except to get medical care
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others
