pregnancy careAdding a new member to your family is an exciting, if sometimes stressful, experience, and one we are excited and honored to help you with. We provide a "family centered" approach to the birthing process that begins before the birth of the baby and continues after discharge from the hospital. Whether you are an experienced parent or are anticipating the birth of your first child, we can guide you through the process and help you feel confident about the road ahead.

Our expectant parent classes are open to both patients and family members. These classes go over the basics of infant care and prepares you for some of the challenges you may face during the first year of your baby’s life.

Community Support

While this is an exciting time, pregnancy and raising a new baby are not without their difficulties. Thankfully, these are obstacles millions of other people have experienced and you are not alone in feeling overwhelmed from time to time. We connect our patients to support groups where they can meet with other parents/expecting parents and share their stories. Sometimes just hearing how another person went through what you’re going through can be a huge help!

Support groups include:

Child Passenger Safety Program

We are proud to provide car seat education to all families as a Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) is available. We will inspect the car seat in the vehicle and assess the child in the car seat to ensure proper fit and installation. A car seat class is also offered as part of the childbirth series. Our goal is to make sure every child is traveling as safely as possible and that caregivers have up-to-date, accurate information. Daviess Community Hospital is currently partnered with the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute and the Indiana Automotive Safety Program to be the only Permanent Fitting Station in the area! Please see the Services tab for more information on the Permanent Fitting Station. You may contact the Child Passenger Safety Program at 812-254-2760 ext. 1359.
