The mission of the DCH Cardiology practice is to provide high-quality,
coordinated, patient-centered care for diagnosis and treatment of various
conditions. Our office accepts self-referrals and physician referrals.
Most insurance plans are accepted. Our staff will work with patients to
verify that he or she has the coverage needed.
DCH is pleased to have Dr. David Blemker, MD on staff at the Cardiology
office located in the Physician Specialty Clinic. Dr. Blemker is invasive
and interventional trained and is currently practicing non-invasive cardiology.
He is experienced in interpretation of
nuclear cardiac imaging studies and has extensive experience in echocardiography,
TEE, stress testing, carotid duplex, venous and arterial duplex interpretation
and certified in vascular lab.
What is Heart Disease?
A general term that covers diseases which affect the heart, including coronary
artery disease, heart failure, and abnormal heart rhythms. Heart disease
is the number one killer in the United States.
Unchangeable risk factors or Heart Disease include:
- Age - the older you get, the greater the chance.
- Gender - men have a greater rate, even after women experience menopause.
- Race - African Americans and Hispanics carry a greater risk.
- Family History - you have a greater chance of developing heart disease
if family members have had a CHD.
Modifiable Risk Factors:
- Serum cholesterol
- Diabetes Mellitus
- Physical inactivity
- Cigarette Smoking
- Alcohol intake
- Metabolic Syndrome
