Report to Admitting Office with lab order. The Admitting Office is located in the front lobby of the hospital. Then, report to the Laboratory.
Purpose :
This test is done to establish adequate collection techniques for the diagnosis for respiratory infections.
Preparation:
No eating before collection.
Procedure:
Collect the specimen first thing of a morning before eating. Rinse your mouth with water, not mouthwash, before collection. You should deep cough from down deep in the chest to collect a good specimen. Expel the material into the sterile specimen cup provided by the laboratory. Refrigerate the specimen if not brought to the laboratory immediately.
