Phone Service to Hospital Limited on Saturday

On Saturday, March 3, incoming and outgoing phone service at Daviess Community Hospital will be disrupted due to a planned phone system upgrade at the facility.

The planned upgrade will begin on Saturday at 9 a.m. and is expected to be complete by 7 p.m. During that time, the public may notice that calls to a patient room or to a hospital department will not connect.

If this happens, the hospital says to use the 254-2760 phone number to contact DCH. “However, keep in mind that you may experience a busy signal even when calling this number as we will have only one line coming in to the hospital to handle all our calls,” says Mary Smith, Marketing Manager.

Internally, Smith says the hospital has a plan in place to use cell phones, shortwave radios, paging, and email to communicate between departments and with physicians and others outside the facility.

“On behalf of all DCH caregivers, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we upgrade and improve our phone communication system.”
