Jennifer Jerger, RN, a nurse in the hospital’s Obstetrics Department, received Daviess Community Hospital’s 2008 Nurse of the Year Award at a Recognition Ceremony held today at DCH. The event culminated activities held at the hospital all week in conjunction with National Nurses Week.
According to Sharon Hubrich, BSN, MSN, DCH Director of Patient Care Services,
Jerger, who was nominated by co-workers and physicians, is a “go-to” person on the hospital’s busy unit. “Jennifer has a constant service mindset,” said Hubrich. “She always cares for our patients with that attitude and she treats her co-workers the same way. They know they can always depend on her.”
Also awarded during the ceremony was Gwen Steyskal, RN who has been with the hospital for over 40 years. Steyskal was recognized for her service to DCH in various capacities, including education, patient care, and community health and for her giving nature. “I love this hospital,” said Steyskal. “I feel blessed to be able to be a part of it.” |
