Daviess Community Hospital’s Helping Hearts Hospice Program has opportunities for volunteers. Hospice provides professional care and support service to improve the quality of life for residents of Daviess, Martin, Pike, and Knox counties with a life limiting illness.
According to Melody Wininger, RN, DCH Hospice Supervisor, hospice volunteers provide companionship to patients, assist them with tasks like shopping and running errands, and provide relief for patient caregivers. “Hospice volunteers are also good listeners,” said Wininger. “They help us identify patient needs and are vital members of the health care team that provides care to our patients.” Volunteers also perform office duties and assist with fund raising activities.
