| The Daviess Community Hospital Foundation recently elected 2010 officers of the Board of Directors. They are Sheldon Graber, President; Alan Goodwin, Vice President; and Brad Hardcastle, Secretary/Treasurer.
The Daviess Community Hospital Foundation was first established in 1983 and re-activated in 2005, and is governed by a Board of Directors, who representatives of the community. The Foundation is organized and operated for the sole use and benefit of Daviess Community Hospital - promoting improvement of facilities and services.
The Foundation raises and expends funds for the benefit of the hospital, assists the hospital with additional funds for capital improvement, educational programs, including scholarships; medical or hospital related research, including health research benefiting the citizens of Daviess and surrounding counties in Indiana; initial capitalization for new health services; and other services related to or in support of the principal purposes of the hospital. Gifts to the Daviess Community Hospital Foundation qualify as tax deductable charitable donations.
The Foundation is currently conducting a campaign to purchase a portable ultrasound scanning unit for the hospital. The campaign is being conducted through 2010 with a goal to raise $110,000. Contributions to date total $12,357.
An ultrasound scan is a painless, specialty test which looks at the structure of your body. A probe is placed in the body and a pulse of high frequency sounds is passed through the skin. The echoes reflected by the pulse show as a picture on a screen, allowing practitioners to more accurately diagnosis and treat various disorders.
The new portable scanning unit will change the way in which patients are able to undergo investigations into medical problems, including breast, heart, liver, and kidney concerns. The unit will help the hospital avoid having to move patients who are not in good health, either across town, or from their bed. |
