Procedure Title: Fasting Blood Work

Where:
Report to Admitting Office with lab order. The Admitting Office is located in the front lobby of the hospital. Then, report to the Laboratory.
Purpose :
These tests are done to detect different diagnosis.
Preparation:
You must have nothing to eat or drink (including chewing gum) for at least 10-12 hours. These hours are usually determined by the doctor.
Procedure:
Some of these tests include:
C-Risk Profile
CMP or BMP (Only if doctor request patient to be fasting)
Alpha 1 Antitrypsin and Phenotyping
Glucose Tolerance Testing
Glucose test
Insulin test
These are just some of the more common tests ordered fasting by doctors. All of these tests are blood draws in the laboratory.
After Care:
Keep tape on until puncture wound is finished bleeding.
