Marcus Thorne, MD Inducted into Academy
   
Marcus Thorne, MD, Washington Orthopedic Surgeon was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) on February 8th during ceremonies at the Academy’s 2012 Annual Meeting in San Francisco.

Dr. Thorne was one of 620 new member inducted. The AAOS has more than 37,000 members worldwide.

With an office in Washington and a satellite office at Greene County General Hospital in Linton, Dr. Thorne specializes in general orthopaedics, including joint replacement. He also provides treatment for sports injuries and provides team physician services at Washington High School. Dr. Thorne is a member of the active Medical Staff at Daviess Community Hospital, where he performs both inpatient and outpatient surgery.

An orthopaedic surgeon is a physician with extensive training in the diagnosis and non-surgical as well as surgical treatment of the musculoskeletal system, including bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves.

The Academy is the largest medical association for musculoskeletal specialists. Its Fellows have completed medical school, plus at least five years of specialty study in orthopaedics in an accredited residency program, passed a comprehensive oral and written exam, and have been certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
