Daviess Community Hospital Foundation
Our Mission
The Daviess Community Hospital Foundation’s mission is to enhance and complement the mission of Daviess Community Hospital by providing a means for philanthropic support of the hospital and by strengthening relationships between the hospital and the people who live in our communities.
Our Vision
The vision of the Daviess Community Hospital Foundation is to ensure a healthcare legacy.
Our Beginnings
The original Daviess County Hospital of Washington, Indiana (now known as Daviess Community Hospital) was the vision of a group of local citizens, concerned about the lack of healthcare in this region when the victim of a train accident was forced to recuperate in the local jail. After a grass-roots community drive and two years of work by dedicated local residents, the hospital opened its doors in 1915 and has been treating patients every since. Over the years, Daviess Community Hospital has strived to maintain its quality of care, state-of the art facilities and equipment, and utilize the newest technologies and medical treatment to care for our communities. The Hospital is really about caring for our communities of people--then, now and always--we were here for your grandparents and parents, and we want to be here for your children and grandchildren.
Why Give to Your Local Hospital Foundation…
Your future healthcare needs, along with the needs of your loved ones, depend upon community support for the Daviess Community Hospital Foundation Funds. The cost of providing quality healthcare continues to increase at a rapid pace, but your financial contribution can assist your Hospital in meeting its goals to serve you and your family for generations to come. By making an investment in the future—through a gift to the Daviess Community Hospital Foundation—you help ensure that Daviess Community Hospital can provide quality healthcare for all of us, our children, and our communities.Daviess Community Hospital strives to improve its equipment, facilities and services, and to implement the latest technological advances available in order to stay up-to-date with the changing needs of our patients. Your support can assist in that effort.
The Foundation offers a Health Careers Scholarship Program. During 2006, the Foundation expects to award $10,000 to residents of Daviess, Martin, and Pike Counties who are undertaking or furthering careers in healthcare.
Tax Advantages
Donations to the Daviess Community Hospital Foundation offer many tax advantages. Federal deductions and income tax credits and other financial benefits are available to donors and their heirs through estate planning. Your personal tax advisor, attorney, or trust officer can advise you of the benefits available to you.

Foundation Makes Medication Assistance Possible for Area Residents
Daviess Community Hospital’s Medication Assistance Program recently received a check for $5000 from the Daviess Community Hospital Foundation. The gift helps people who have long-term medication needs and limited financial resources by providing access to free or low cost prescription medications. During 2006, the program recorded a combined savings of $500,000 for those enrolled in the program since it’s inception in 2005.
Many pharmaceutical companies have programs to help people who have long-term medication needs and limited financial resources. Daviess Community Hospital’s Medication Assistance Program (MAP), working with an individual’s physician, helps that person apply for free or low-cost medicine offered by the drug companies. Typical medications that are covered include those for asthma, arthritis, allergies, anxiety and depression, diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, heart disease, hormone replacement, hypertension, and other chronic disorders.
The MAP program confidentially identifies sources of help for clients, assesses eligibility, prepares applications and ensures eligible clients receive needed prescriptions. For a free brochure and program application, contact Bunny Ash at 254-6696, Extension 246.
The Medication Assistance Program is a result of the joint efforts of the Daviess Community Hospital Foundation and Daviess Community Hospital. If you wish to make a tax-deductible financial contribution to fund this program, please contact the Daviess Community Hospital Foundation at (812) 254-8858. ***###*** May 12, 2006
