Hospital Auxiliary Makes Donation for New ER Program

Daviess Community Hospital’s Auxiliary and Red Coats recently donated $2,625 to fund a new program in the hospital’s Emergency Department that will change the way patients learn about their condition. The new program offers many advantages because it helps hospital emergency physicians and nurses link patients to reader-friendly information about a wide variety of diseases and conditions.

“With the new program, patients will be given the latest health information in a new and improved format that is not only easy-to-read, but is tailored to them,” says James Gruber, MD, Emergency Department Medical Director. “The information is very detailed and includes everything from the causes of their condition to warning signs that the condition is not resolving and that further treatment is necessary.”

“The Auxiliary’s support of this purchase will help us continue to improve patient care in our Emergency Department,” said Gary Kendrick, CEO. “We appreciate the Auxiliary and Red Coat’s support of this project as well as their ongoing dedication and service to DCH.”
