DAVIESS COMMUNITY HOSPITAL 2010 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION - MICROSOFT WORD FORM FORMAT

      DCH FOUNDATION OFFERING SCHOLARSHIPS

The Daviess Community Hospital Foundation has announced that the Scholarship Committee has available $16,500 for eleven residents of Daviess, Martin, and Pike Counties who are under-taking or furthering careers in healthcare. Applications for scholarships are now available and due on or before March 1st.

High school seniors; college students; and non-traditional students, including those who work and attend part time, have dependents other than a spouse, are single parents, or who hold GED certificates; and who live in Daviess, Martin, and Pike County, are eligible for up to $1,500 scholarship awards as long as they will be attending an accredited educational institution in pursuit of a career in the field of healthcare, with a potential for pursuing a career that fulfills a local community need.

Eligible careers include Audiologist, Cardiovascular Technician, Certified Nursing Assistant, Dietitian, Emergency Medical Technician, Laboratory Technician, Medical Assistant, Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, Physical Therapist, Physician and Surgeon, Physician Assistant, Radiology Technologist, Recreational Therapist, Respiratory Therapist, Social Worker, Speech-Language Pathologist, and Surgical Technologist.

One new scholarship, the DCH Auxiliary Scholarship, will be awarded this year. This $1,000 award is made possible with funds raised by the hospital’s volunteer Auxiliary. For more than 50 years, the Auxiliary has been an important arm of the hospital, dedicated to supporting its missions and contributing funds.

An additional $500 nursing scholarship is also available to a student pursuing a nursing degree. The scholarship is named to honor Helen Arthur, a local resident who was unable to fulfill her desire to become a nurse after contracting tuberculosis. The scholarship recognizes Washington’s Omega Alpha Chi Sorority who in 1954, established and named a Helen Arthur Memorial Educational Loan Fund for students pursuing medical careers. In 2006, the sorority gifted the balance of the fund to the DCH Foundation.

The DCH Foundation is a nonprofit organization that exists to enhance and complement the mission of Daviess Community Hospital by providing a means for philanthropic support of the hospital and by strengthening relationships between the hospital and the community.
