Hospital Board Meets
 |
Daviess Community Hospital’s Board of Governors met Thursday, April 28 and reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to operating medical clinics in Daviess, Martin, and Pike counties. They approved a renovation project for the North Daviess Clinic in Odon to accommodate an additional nurse practitioner and computer software for the Daviess-Martin Clinic in Loogootee that allows high tech electronic communication between the hospital and the physician.
They also learned the Petersburg Clinic is now in full operation at their new Main Street location in Petersburg. On April 4, Honesto K. Fenol, Jr., MD, Family Medicine and Eric Edwards, Family Nurse Practitioner combined their practices with Edwards moving to the Fenol clinic. The new Clinic has expanded office hours to 7 p.m. on some days to accommodate growing patient needs.
Jim Heckert, CEO reported both the clinics and the hospital had their annual unannounced inspection by the Indiana State Department of Health April 11 through 13. He said a formal report is expected in a few weeks. “The staff as always was very responsive to the State inspectors,” said Heckert. “Of particular note were the positive comments on the cleanliness of the clinics and hospital and a deficiency free lab survey.” He added that the Home Health Department had been previously inspected, resulting in a deficiency free survey.
Heckert also said the hospital will celebrate National Hospital Week and National Nursing Week during the week of May 9 with several activities planned for the community. On May 10, the Family Health Clinic, in cooperation with the Indiana Breast and Cervical Cancer Care Program, will host the National Women's Health Day in the hospital's Specialty Clinic where mammograms, breast exams, pap smears, bone density screenings, and education will be provided. On May 11, the Emergency Department nursing staff will conduct drive-through blood pressure screening inside the hospital’s main entrance canopy. And, the annual 5K Walk/Run will begin with registration at 7:30 a.m. and the race beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 14. |
