The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) recently awarded Daviess Community Hospital the highest level of accreditation an organization may receive. The three-year endorsement for the hospital’s acute rehabilitation unit verifies DCH's commitment and conformity to national and international standards of service.
"CARF accreditation puts a stamp of approval on the quality of work that our staff is doing on a daily basis," said Heckert. "The report showed that we are meeting individual needs and consistently enabling members of our community to achieve positive outcomes through their physical rehabilitation experience
The DCH report identified numerous strengths including the delivery of exceptional quality care, dedication of staff members to the rehabilitation process, clean and well maintained facilities, patient care forums, unified interdepartmental relationships, and high levels of patient satisfaction. A well-organized program and effective training and strong support from the community and hospital administration were also noted.
DCH will continue to submit annual reports to CARF to reaffirm continuing conformance to the CARF standards. CARF-accredited organizations must be able to recognize and measure improvement to continually enhance the quality of services.
