At a reception on Wednesday, May 9th at the hospital, the Daviess Community Hospital Foundation announced that 15 area students are being awarded $15,500 in Health Careers Scholarships. The 16 scholarships were awarded to students from Daviess, Martin, and Pike Counties who are attending an accredited educational institution in pursuit of a career in the field of healthcare, with a potential for pursuing a career that fulfills a local community need. In addition to fifteen $1,000 Foundation Health Careers Scholarships, the Helen Arthur Memorial Nursing Scholarship Award of $500 was awarded to a student pursuing a career in nursing. Recipients of the 2012 Foundation Health Careers Scholarships are:
Alexandra Beuhler is the daughter of Bryan and Darla Beuhler of Odon. She is beginning her clinical year at Saint Francis Clinical Laboratory Science Program in Beech Grove. A 2008 graduate of North Daviess High School and a 2012 graduate of the University of Southern Indiana with a bachelor’s degree in Biology, she is pursuing a career as a certified Medical Technologist.
Taylor Donaldson is the daughter of Gary and Susan Donaldson of Washington. She is a 2012 graduate of Washington High School and plans to attend the University of Evansville. She is pursuing a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree.
Rachel Jo Harder is the daughter of Kevin and Joni Harder of Shoals. She is a 2012 graduate of Shoals High School. She plans to pursue a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree at the University of Evansville.
Justine Johnston is the daughter of Tim and Stacey Johnston of Washington. She is a 2011 graduate of Washington High School who will enter her sophomore year of study at Indiana University. She is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in nursing.
Hannah LaMar is the daughter of Terry and Julie LaMar of Loogootee. She is a 2012 graduate of Loogootee High School. She plans to attend the University of Evansville and will pursue a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree.
Kelsey Lemond is the daughter of James and Nancy Lemond of Winslow. She is a 2012 graduate of Pike Central High School. She plans to pursue a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree at Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis. Emily Lengacher is the daughter of Roman and Janice Lengacher of Cannelburg. She is a 2012 graduate of Barr-Reeve High School and plans to attend the University of Southern Indiana. She is pursuing a degree in exercise science and occupational therapy.
Whitney McGillem is the daughter of Joe and Debra McGillem of Washington. She is a 2010 graduate of Washington High School and a junior at Butler University where she is pursuing a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree.
Alexandra Meyer is the daughter of Lee and Debbie Meyer of Odon. She is a 2012 graduate of North Daviess High School and plans to attend Vincennes University. She is pursuing a degree in Nursing.
Christina Powell is the daughter of Robert and Stephanie Powell of Loogootee. She is a 2012 graduate of Loogootee High School and plans to attend Purdue University. She is pursuing a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree.
Tybytha Ryan is the daughter of Donald and Virginia Ryan of rural Washington. She is a sophomore at the University of Indianapolis and a 2011 graduate of Washington High School. She is studying psychology and social work with the intent of working in pediatric psychology.
Audrey Sheffler is the daughter of Russ and Samantha Sheffler of Oakland City. She is a 2012 graduate of Pike Central High School. She plans to attend Purdue University and will pursue a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree.
Evan Wadsworth is the son of Doug and Julie Wadsworth of Washington. He is a sophomore at the University of Indianapolis and a 2011 graduate of Washington High School. He is enrolled in a pre-medicine course of study.
Morgan Whitehead is the daughter of Bill and Jami Whitehead of rural Washington. She is a 2011 graduate of Washington High School who will enter her sophomore year at Indiana State University and is pursuing a degree in speech-language pathology.
Michelle Zipperle is the daughter of Edward and Susan Zipperle of Washington. She is a sophomore at the University of Southern Indiana and is a 2011 graduate of Washington High School. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and is also awarded the Helen Arthur Memorial Nursing Scholarship.
